Our Youngest Participant

Watch as three-year-old Charlotte—daughter of Adam Emanoff—pledges to ride 30 Days of Biking!

Says her dad, “She’s very excited to be doing it again. She loves it when I ride with her in my bunny costume.”

Dedicated to Laurent Fignon

Guest post by Emerson Leandro, @elgc45

Laurent Fignon died of cancer on August 31, 2010.

Some of my earliest cycling-related childhood memories revolve around watching Tour De France. Growing up in The Venezuelan Andes and feeding from all the hype in neighboring Colombia about Lucho Herrera’s battles with Laurent Fignon up the Pyrenees, I sat in front of a T.V. during the weekends to watch them with my dad.

I remember loving the fact that this French dude with a funny name could kick everyone’s asses by more than 10 minutes in such a long and grueling race. I grew up to admire him as a cyclist and to love the sport and adopt it as a lifestyle. This love for the sport landed me my very first bike at seven-years-old, a bright yellow BMX!

It is with the same childish enthusiasm and love for the sport and the lifestyle that I start my 30 Days Of Biking.

Emerson.

The Nutshell of Day 1

So it’s not over yet, but I’m going to bed! So here’s the recap:

- Today equalled awesome.
- Weather equalled perfect.
- People (you) equalled wondrous.

Todays Kick-it-off ride went super well! Only had to regroup a couple times. I can’t wait to see all the great photos from the ride. In the meantime, here’s a mega-blurry shot taken by yours truly during the group photo!
